Pixelfed

Pixelfed is a decentralized, ActivityPub-federated photo and short-video sharing platform frequently described as an ethical alternative to Instagram. Rather than living on a single company's servers, Pixelfed operates as a network of independently run instances that interoperate with each other and with the wider Fediverse, so users on a Pixelfed server can follow and be followed by Mastodon accounts. Every timeline is strictly chronological with no engagement-optimizing algorithm, there are no ads or data-mining, and communities can self-host their own instance to set independent moderation rules, storage limits, and branding.
