What Causes PDF Corruption and How It Is Repaired

PDF documents can become corrupt due to interrupted internet downloads, email gateway truncation, disk sector errors, or buggy export plugins. In most cases, the text and images inside the document are still intact, but the PDF reader refuses to open the file because the xref index table or trailer dictionary is malformed or displaced. This repair engine scans the binary byte stream directly, discovers all valid PDF objects, fixes broken stream delimiters, and synthesizes a fresh, compliant cross-reference table.
